Making the Right Start with Colleagues and Clients

Course outline:

It is essential that, from the outset, individuals understand the importance of projecting a professional image, whether working in the office, from home, and when interacting with colleagues and clients. This course introduces the key principles of effective communication, both in face-to-face situations and in virtual environments.

The course will cover:

  • Presenting a professional image to colleagues and clients through your appearance, tone, behaviour, and approach, demonstrating confidence, respect, and reliability to build trust and leave a positive and lasting impression.
  • Understanding effective communication by adapting your style, overcoming barriers, using body language, and applying positive language to build rapport and encourage confident, collaborative interactions.
  • Building confidence to communicate clearly and professionally across workplace channels including handling calls effectively, writing concise messages, and presenting yourself professionally on virtual platforms, to strengthen positive working relationships.
  • How to practice active listening by giving full attention to others, showing engagement through verbal and non-verbal cues, and responding thoughtfully to demonstrate understanding, and support effective communication.
  • An introduction to organisational skills, exploring why they matter in a professional environment, understanding how to be more organised and approach your work in a structured and reliable way.
