The publication of the Charities SORP 2026, in turn based on the revised FRS 102, along with uplifts to various thresholds for many charities depending on the jurisdiction, marks one of the most significant overhauls of UK charity reporting in over a decade.

IFRS is in a relatively steady-state space in 2026 with only two amendments – both to IFRS 9 – Financial instruments and IFRS 7 – Financial instruments: disclosures – becoming effective for periods commencing on or after 1 January 2026. These amendments are relatively narrow in scope.

HMRC has created a special page on their website, devoted to mandating the reporting of benefits in kind and expenses through payroll software from 2027. The guidance does not answer every question as yet but will no doubt be amended many times on the way to implementation.
