What if only part of my team wants to take out membership?
Membership includes all team members in your firm who fall into the recommended category. For example, for CPD membership, all partners, managers and seniors must be included. For Early Careers membership, all students must be included. Payroll and corporate finance team members can be excluded.
Entering into a Membership implies acknowledgement of the conditions above and agreement to Mercia's right to invoice for additional members of staff if it subsequently becomes clear that at the time of making the initial declaration of staff, one or more individuals was omitted from the list. We have a PAYG alternative, and would be happy to discuss the most appropriate option with you.
Are conferences, probate and management courses included in my membership?
For Early Careers memberships, all technical and Professional Skills training is included.
For CPD membership, members have access to Professional Skills eLearning. Discounts are available to members for Probate, Conferences and Live Streamed Skills, Management and Leadership courses are these courses are not included in membership.
As a member do I still need to book course places?
Yes, for face-to-face and live streamed events. This is to ensure that you receive joining instructions, and for face-to-face events we arrange sufficient refreshments.
Can members attend any face-to-face venue?
Members may attend any of Mercia’s CPD face-to-face events in any venue as part of their CPD face-to-face membership. Conferences are not included in membership – however, members do benefit from a 10% discount on conferences.
Can I purchase an Early Careers membership for my students without a CPD membership?
Yes, you can purchase an Early Careers membership without the need to purchase a CPD membership for your qualified staff. As with other memberships, all students in your firm would need to be included in the Early Careers membership.
One of my team is part-time; do I need to include them in our membership?
Any staff working 20 hours or less per week should be included as half. Partners and Directors are treated as full time regardless of the number of hours worked.

CPD memberships attract 10% discount on our technical support and marketing products, including our technical enquiries, our manuals and our file review service.
