VAT File Review
A VAT file review is a flexible service to ensure compliance with your firm's procedures, VAT legislation, HMRC policy, and to confirm that the relevant client VAT matters were technically correct.
The VAT file quality and risk review service is a flexible service tailored to your firm’s individual needs. We would work with you beforehand to scope the review in advance of reviewing any files and to agree an appropriate selection of files for consideration. Typically, a review will cover matters such as:
- compliance with firm procedures and manuals
- compliance with VAT legislation, case law and HMRC policy
- whether advice provided to clients and any judgments taken on client VAT matters is clear and comprehensive, as well as being technically correct.
We will work with you to devise a tailored approach. The review can either be completed at your offices and include a face to face de-brief meeting, or it can be undertaken remotely an include a video de-brief via Microsoft Teams.
In either case we will provide you with a comprehensive written report following the review. This will offer practical recommendations and is designed to highlight any areas where the VAT advice or judgments might be considered at risk of challenge on technical or quality grounds.
