Planning Only Review
A planning only file review is an assessment of the planning of an audit engagement, taking into account the extent of compliance with the relevant International Standards on Auditing and the relevant Ethical Standard.
A planning only file review features a detailed review of the working papers relating to the planning of an audit engagement, to provide an assessment of and feedback on the quality of the key aspects of audit planning, including ethical matters, risk assessment procedures and the planned response to the risk assessment. This review is usually performed as a 'hot' (before the audit report has been signed) review but can be performed as a 'cold' (after the audit report has been signed) review if necessary.
Planning only file reviews may be carried out either at your office or remotely. As a guide, this review will take approximately 1.5 hours per file, although this will depend on the size and complexity of the assignments.
The review will include a discussion of key findings and areas for improvement, either face-to-face (for reviews at your office) or by telephone / video call (for remote reviews). You will receive a comprehensive written report offering practical recommendations on how to improve audit quality and where applicable, this will also highlight areas where audit efficiency may be improved.
