Corporation Tax - Six Monthly Update (Spring)

Course outline:

This course will consider both corporation tax and issues for employers. By the time of the course the budget proposals will probably have been substantially enacted into law and we will look at their impact for the 2026/27 tax year and beyond.

Content will include:

  • Recent legislative changes and relevant case law.
    • HMRC has had significant success in disallowing interest expenses under the unallowable purpose rule. The course explains the impact for companies with net interest expenses.
  • Consultations that may affect the tax liability of the company 
    • HMRC recently launched a consultation on reforms to transfer pricing legislation. In particular they have proposed removing the exemption for medium sized businesses from transfer pricing and increasing the disclosure requirements for companies within the scope of TP. The course will consider the potential effects on medium sized companies.
  • HMRC pronouncements and their potential impact
    • There has been considerable focus on claims for Research & Development and there has been the new R&D disclosure facility launched. The course will look at developments in this area.
  • Impact of International Tax Developments on UK tax law and practice
  • The agreement between the US and the other members of the G7 on a carve out from Pillar 2 for US parent companies will have a significant impact on Pillar 2. The course will cover this.
